French Made an Official Language of the Kingdom

The Northwood-Oregonian Parliament passed a bill today making French an official language of the Kingdom. Alongside making French an official language, the bill also includes provisions to encourage the availability of French translated public documents. The bill was voted on by the Royal Deluge this Monday, February 8th, and was sent to the Preclusionary Committee the same day. The bill was written by His Majesty The King and was seconded by Duke Nicholas Abbott of the Duchy of Clay.

The bill doesn't come as much as a surprise, as making French an official language has been a personal goal of the King for some time now. Many citizens of the Kingdom are currently in the process of learning French, or have already done so. The Kingdom also notably signed a treaty with the Kingdom of Sayville which included a French translation. While this on its own would be expected due to the Kingdom of Sayville writing the treaty and having French as an official language, the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon signed another treaty with the Empire of Sayville which also included a French translation despite the treaty being written by the King. This now could be viewed as the King preemptively using French in preparation of making French an official language.

Second Edition of Revised Code includes new GSRM Laws

On 9 December 2021 a royal decree was issued by Carson I to create a Revised Code for the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon. The Revised Code includes all domestic laws for the Kingdom.  Today, two large bills creating many laws for the Kingdom were passed. The first bill, the basic laws bill, formalized many laws which would naturally be a given, relating to things like murder and theft. It also includes protections for assembly, protest, and owning private property. The second bill created many protections for those who are Gender, Sexual, and Romantic minorities. The emcompassing legislation creates a policy of the government not taking a keen interest in how it's citizens identifies or love except for making sure their rights to do so are secured.

Northwood-Oregon prepares for the Gray Shift

The Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon is a primarily local micronation, it relies completely on local citizens to fill its government and make decisions, and until very recently it didn't allow non-locals to gain any type of citizenship. The Gray Shift is a term coined by Sovereign Carson I to describe the mass graduation of more than 41% of the Kingdom's citizenry which are still in high school. This is problematic for the Kingdom as it will greatly lower the number of citizens which who can help recruit and be available for local activities due to the expectation that many will be moving away to college or trade school. This prompted a recruitment drive to take place within the Kingdom in order to lower this percentage of graduating members. This has so far been successful, as now just over 34% of citizens who are in high school are graduating. But a recruitment drive was not the only attempt made to rectify the problem.
