How a Misreading of Boxes Shrunk Northwood-Oregon by a Tenth

The Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon is comprised of multiple noncontiguous claims. Some of these claims are oddly shaped or only contain one house, which creates security concerns about giving away where a citizen of the Kingdom resides. This was compromised by limiting the true map of Northwood-Oregon's claims to few high ranking officials. This map of the Kingdom was created using Google Maps, in order to ensure it could be easily shared and edited when necessary between officials. The application allows for users to outline routes and areas, the latter of which was utilized to outline claims. After outlining, the application automatically provides the area of the section as well as the perimeter.

The area and perimeter indicators.

This is where the issue arises. The area and perimeter of the sections are indicated by either a shaded square or a hollow box with a thick outline. When Sovereign Carson decided to take the initiative to find the size of the Kingdom, they, for an unknown reason, assumed that the perimeter was the area, despite the icon and measurement unit indicating otherwise. This led to the area of the complete Kingdom to be inaccurately cited as 32 km2 (12 sq mi) and the population density to be 1.81/km2 (4.7/sq mi). This persisted until June 15th, 2021 when the mistake was corrected by Sovereign Carson. The map was revisited and the correct area was founded, which in total would be 7.51 km2 (2.90 sq mi). The area of Metropolitan Northwood-Oregon would also be found, which is 6.19 km2 (2.39 sq mi) and the new population density would be found, 9.37/km2 (24.3/sq mi).

Northwood-Oregon prepares for the Gray Shift

The Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon is a primarily local micronation, it relies completely on local citizens to fill its government and make decisions, and until very recently it didn't allow non-locals to gain any type of citizenship. The Gray Shift is a term coined by Sovereign Carson I to describe the mass graduation of more than 41% of the Kingdom's citizenry which are still in high school. This is problematic for the Kingdom as it will greatly lower the number of citizens which who can help recruit and be available for local activities due to the expectation that many will be moving away to college or trade school. This prompted a recruitment drive to take place within the Kingdom in order to lower this percentage of graduating members. This has so far been successful, as now just over 34% of citizens who are in high school are graduating. But a recruitment drive was not the only attempt made to rectify the problem. The proposed flag of the March of Fallen Timbers Perhaps the

King Announces First Legislative Elections

His Majesty The King announced elections for the Preclusionary Committee on January 8 via Discord, marking the start of the election season in Northwood-Oregon. This comes after the ratification of the Canon Governing Document , Northwood-Oregon's equivalent of a constitution. The Canon Governing Document describes the Preclusionary Committee as the lower house of Northwood-Oregon's legislature, the Northwood-Oregonian Assembly. It comprises elected representatives of the citizenry and is jointly led by the Sovereigns, the co-monarchs of Northwood-Oregon. The Committee serves as a check on the Royal Deluge -- the Assembly's upper house comprising the leaders of KNO member states -- and has the ability to reject legislation previously passed by the latter.
