Duchess Kaitlyn of Altissia goes on Regency

Yesterday, August 18, 2021, Duchess Kaitlyn of Altissia went on a formal leave from her duties in the Northwood-Oregonian Parliament and the Duchy of Altissia. Duchess Kaitlyn cited that she would be going on leave for business for an undetermined amount of time, which she believed would hold her from executing her duties.

The Duchess left a Regent in her stead in the form of her sister, Jocelyn, who would perform the Duchess's responsibilities in her stead. Due to the extended absence, Duchess Kaitlyn decided to grant Jocelyn the unique title of Duchess-Regent for the period of time she will hold office. Duchess-Regent Jocelyn will perform Duchess Kaitlyn's responsibilities in the Duchy of Altissia and will take her position in the Royal Deluge.

Northwood-Oregon prepares for the Gray Shift

The Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon is a primarily local micronation, it relies completely on local citizens to fill its government and make decisions, and until very recently it didn't allow non-locals to gain any type of citizenship. The Gray Shift is a term coined by Sovereign Carson I to describe the mass graduation of more than 41% of the Kingdom's citizenry which are still in high school. This is problematic for the Kingdom as it will greatly lower the number of citizens which who can help recruit and be available for local activities due to the expectation that many will be moving away to college or trade school. This prompted a recruitment drive to take place within the Kingdom in order to lower this percentage of graduating members. This has so far been successful, as now just over 34% of citizens who are in high school are graduating. But a recruitment drive was not the only attempt made to rectify the problem. King Announces First Legislative Elections

His Majesty The King announced elections for the Preclusionary Committee on January 8 via Discord, marking the start of the election season in Northwood-Oregon. This comes after the ratification of the Canon Governing Document , Northwood-Oregon's equivalent of a constitution. The Canon Governing Document describes the Preclusionary Committee as the lower house of Northwood-Oregon's legislature, the Northwood-Oregonian Assembly. It comprises elected representatives of the citizenry and is jointly led by the Sovereigns, the co-monarchs of Northwood-Oregon. The Committee serves as a check on the Royal Deluge -- the Assembly's upper house comprising the leaders of KNO member states -- and has the ability to reject legislation previously passed by the latter.
