First Candidates for Cupertino Alliance Chair Election announced, Mullins confirms he's not seeking a Second Term

The bids for the Cupertino Alliance Chair Election opened yesterday on the 28 December in the first election cycle under the alliance's new Charter. The first candidates have filed their Form 98s, Carson Snyder, Superior Judge of the Cupertino Alliance, and James Murray, Minister of Membership Attainment, are running as Chair and Lieutenant Chair respectively.

Carson Snyder is the current Sovereign of Northwood-Oregon, and James Murray is the President of Avalonia, both full member states of the Cupertino Alliance. Snyder running for the position has been a fairly well known happening within the Alliance, with a few delegates anticipating the campaign after Snyder's work writing the new 2021 edition of the Cupertino Alliance Charter.

Also occuring on the first day, Chair incumbant Tyler Mullins confirmed he was not going to be seeking a second term as Chair of the Board. Mullins came into the position after the resignation of Dhrubajyoti Roy and had scored very high approval rating amongst the alliance's delegates. The idea of Mullins running for a second term has been a matter of discussion between delegates, especially after he began seeking to join a campaign as a Lieutenant Chair candidate. After the induction of Larry Martin of Waterside Park to the position of Lieutenant Chair, many believed that a ticket was soon to follow, but one did not.

The Chair released a letter on 28 December stating that he would not be seeking a reeleection, taking inspiration from former U.S. President Calvin Coolidge. In the letter, Mullins writes:

While I am honored by the approval rating you have all given me and the faith in me that you have shown, I’d like to take a page out of Coolidge’s book, end my tenure as Chair on a high note and say that I do not choose to run. I have accomplished the goals I set for myself during my tenure as Chair and I’m very proud of how far we were able to come in just a short time. I am incredibly honored to have had the privilege of serving this alliance and I have honestly enjoyed my term as Chair.

Also in the letter, Mullins confirmed that he would be willing to serve on the cabinet of the next Chair, as he still wishes to contribute to the alliance, just not in the position of Chair. The full letter can be found here.

Second Edition of Revised Code includes new GSRM Laws

On 9 December 2021 a royal decree was issued by Carson I to create a Revised Code for the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon. The Revised Code includes all domestic laws for the Kingdom.  Today, two large bills creating many laws for the Kingdom were passed. The first bill, the basic laws bill, formalized many laws which would naturally be a given, relating to things like murder and theft. It also includes protections for assembly, protest, and owning private property. The second bill created many protections for those who are Gender, Sexual, and Romantic minorities. The emcompassing legislation creates a policy of the government not taking a keen interest in how it's citizens identifies or love except for making sure their rights to do so are secured.
