Vishwamitra and Northwood-Oregon celebrate one year of relations, sign new treaty

On 29 March 2021, the State of Vishwamitra and the Kingdom of Northwood-Oregon signed a treaty of mutual recognition. Since then, the two nations have enjoyed positive relations.

Relations with Vishwamitra have proved beneficial to Northwood-Oregon over the year. Notably, Vishwamitra was the primary cause of the Kingdom's first in-person meeting with representatives from Pibocip, which would not have happened without Vishwamitra's input encouraging relations. Since the signing of the original treaty, both Dhrubajyoti Roy and Carson Snyder have been in direct contact, and have nurtured a personal friendship. Snyder has also worked in Vishwamitra personally, and is currently serving as Chief Justice of the nation Roy writes in a congratulatory letter:

Our two peoples have had cordial interactions since the formal and official establishment of diplomatic relations in 2021. Despite the test of time and numerous challenges faced by both Vishwamitra and Northwood-Oregon, our two nations continued to nurture relations to close friendship which have recently been elevated to the level of special status of cooperation with the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. Your Majesty’s continued and unfailable dedication towards serving Vishwamitra is received with great honour by myself and my people and I am hopeful that we are able to further strengthen the diplomatic relations between our two nations through enhanced communication between our respective officials.

The relationship between Northwood-Oregon and Vishwamitra is one of the oldest the Kingdom has, and now after a year of it existing, it has been elevated to a new standing with the signing of a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which seeks to further elevate the relations of the two nations. This treaty will last for five years and will be automatically renewed as long as neither nation wishes for it not to be, however such an event is not expected, as the two nations have seen that having beneficial relations is a triumph in the micronational community.

King Announces First Legislative Elections

His Majesty The King announced elections for the Preclusionary Committee on January 8 via Discord, marking the start of the election season in Northwood-Oregon. This comes after the ratification of the Canon Governing Document , Northwood-Oregon's equivalent of a constitution. The Canon Governing Document describes the Preclusionary Committee as the lower house of Northwood-Oregon's legislature, the Northwood-Oregonian Assembly. It comprises elected representatives of the citizenry and is jointly led by the Sovereigns, the co-monarchs of Northwood-Oregon. The Committee serves as a check on the Royal Deluge -- the Assembly's upper house comprising the leaders of KNO member states -- and has the ability to reject legislation previously passed by the latter.
